Hanna Lachnitt was presented with the Helmut Veith Stipend by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of TU Wien Kurt Matyas at the award ceremony on Friday, April 06, 2018. Hanna Lachnitt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Freie Universität Berlin. Since March 2018 she has been pursuing Master’s degree in Computational Logic at TU Wien. Hann is already working as a student assistant in the Security and Privacy research group of Matteo Maffei, where she is focusing on the theoretical foundations of the blockchain technology.

Hanna, this year´s awardee is another example of a young scientist, who demonstrates not only academic excellence, but is also following Helmut Veith´s footsteps of fostering dialogue between the scientific community and the general public. Helmut Veith Stipend

The annually awarded Helmut Veith Stipend for female master students is dedicated to the memory of an outstanding computer scientist who worked in the fields of logic in computer science, computer-aided verification, software engineering, and computer security. Helmut Veith, who tragically passed away in March 2016, was a strong advocate and mentor for women in computer science. His great polymathic mind interested in application of formal and logical methods to problems in software technology and engineering, resonates in his legacy.

The Helmut Veith Stipend was established with generous support of TU Wien, Wolfgang Pauli Institute and with contributions by family and friends of the late Helmut Veith.

  • The Helmut Veith Stipend is awarded annually to outstanding female students in the field of computer science who pursue (or plan to pursue) one of the master’s programs in Computer Science at TU Wien taught in English.
  • The award of 6000 EUR annualy, for up to 2 years.
  • Tuition fee waiver.

Application for Helmut Veith Stipend 2018/2019 is open. Download the flyer here.
