Abstract argumentation semantics: from limits to perspectives

The WPI and the VCLA will host a talk by Pietro Baroni.

DATE:Tuesday, March 5, 2013
TIME:10:00 c.t.
VENUE:Seminar room Goedel (Favoritenstrasse 9-11, ground floor, access through courtyard)

ABSTRACT

Dung's argumentation framework is by far the most widely adopted formal model for abstract argumentation studies. While it has proved a powerful tool for theoretical analysis, questions may arise about its expressiveness and actual usefulness in practical contexts.

After briefly recalling the basic concepts about Dung's framework, the talk will discuss merits and limits of this formalism and draw some perspectives about current and future research directions.
